A conversation with Anita Bales, Director of DCAA
There will always be some tension in an auditing situation; it’s the nature of the beast. But new feedback techniques, technology advances, and the skill sets of innovative staff are actually strengthening customer bonds between the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and the DoD’s contractors.
The agency is in a unique situation, because unlike public accounting firms whose clients hire the auditors to audit the clients’ companies, DCAA is “hired” by the DoD contracting officers (the clients) to audit another organization—the defense contractors. With a bright new five-year vision in place that keeps these two groups in mind, the DCAA is well on its way to creating the ideal audit environment for the 21st century.
Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting an informative Q&A session with a special guest, Anita Bales, Director of the DCAA.
