Your Growth Spurt is Calling: New Contracting Opportunities in 2022

“Consolidate.” That’s the GSA’s mantra for its new small business set-aside contracts in fiscal year 2022. Which is not to say specialized industries and skill sets aren’t required during the contract lifecycle—they are. But currently, all contract types are folded into five major work categories so the GSA can more flexibly manage their disbursement, while continuing to make relatively generous awards to small businesses this coming year.

    The categories are:

    • Information Technology
    • Research & Development
    • Health Services
    • Professional Services
    • Architecture & Construction

The contracts that follow fit into the GSA’s new categories, and are all-new offerings by their respective agencies. The best part: you won’t have to worry about contending with repeat contract winners.

Although you likely already know this, it’s important to mention that your chances of winning any of the following contracts usually increase considerably if you collaborate with another small business that holds a complementary skill set.

Get ready to get your growth on.

#1 Horizontal Construction Contracts for USACE Galveston District

In support of Civil Works programs, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers now offers a huge proposal and contract lifecycle opportunity for horizontal construction services to benefit the Galveston, Texas area. If awarded, you’ll be involved in the build and repair of a spectrum of marine projects, including flood control infrastructures, levees, jetties, channels, and more.

Scheduled for award in September 2022, this contract’s work will take place in the U.S. Army Galveston district, yet may include the Southwestern Division as well.

This opportunity’s proposed contracting tools may be Firm-Fixed Price, Fixed Price Economic Price Adjustment, Fixed Price Incentive Firm, or Fixed Price Incentive Successive Targets. Learn more about this $7 billion total contract—with an opportunity ID of 172447—here. (1)

#2 CATTS - Commerce Acquisition for Transformational Technology Services

Startups, listen up: this contract is all about enterprise-wide Information Technology (IT) services. Under the direction of the U.S. Department of Commerce, this contract lifecycle opportunity will consist of Cybersecurity, Digital Services, Data Governance and Maintenance, and Analytical and Program Management duties.

With a contract award date of February 2022, you can still submit an RFP solicitation under the wire—until midnight on January 15, 2022. The opportunity ID for this $1.5 billion contract? 192961. Read all about it here. (2)

#3 BPA - ACCESS Blanket Purchase Agreement

Information Technology again—this time equipment and hardware, with just a little software to round things out. The U.S. State Department has a serious need for networking equipment, such as servers, storage hardware, and peripherals; multimedia equipment; identity management (biometric) hardware; end-user devices; and associated commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software.

This contract of up to $5 billion may be awarded as early as January of 2022, but again, the right vendor may still be able to submit. The ID you need is 193020. Learn more about this deal’s contract lifecycle from Bloomberg News here. (2)

#4 PSA HIV - Procurement Service Agent HIV-Focused Award for the Next-Generation GHSC Program

Here’s your chance to help stem the AIDS epidemic worldwide. Ensure the availability of affordable, quality healthcare and preventive education to people impacted by HIV/AIDs in countries that the U.S. assists. This contract will enable you to work at a global level, through efforts concentrated with the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Your skills in the areas of Healthcare Logistics, Administration, and Management will make you a viable competitor in this contract win.

With an opportunity ID of 192552 and an award date of 11/2022, this contract is part of the next generation of the GHSC program. Learn more about this initiative and other PEPFAR contracts here. (1)

    #5. BIC MAC - Next-Generation Services Best-in-Class Multi-Agency IDIQ Contract

The GSA decided it needs a new, broader, more robust, and more flexible contract to meet the federal acquisition community’s need for best-in-class complex services. So BIC MAC was born. This multi-agency contract has no dollar ceiling, so if you’re adept at Engineering, Scientific, or Technical Services, you should absolutely submit a proposal. The solicitation date isn’t until October 2022, but keep this contract lifecycle opportunity in your sights—it could be your ticket into a huge, recurring source of revenue. Your opportunity ID is 201043, and you can learn more about this service-only opportunity right here. (1)
